Assessment of Different Growing Media on Cut Flower Performance of Two Gladiolus (Gladiolus grandiflorus) Cultivars

چکیده
One of the most important problems encountered in cultivation cut flower gladiolus is soil-borne diseases and pests. This problem substantially reduces yield quality. Soilless culture very limited for it has not been studied extensively. The characteristics growing media used soilless either directly or indirectly affect Therefore, quite essential to determine appropriate cultivation. At same time good production usually depends upon various factors including type used. present study was conducted effects two different varieties (Gladiolus grandiflorus L. cv. “Purple Flora” “Ibadan”) six (peat+pumice: 1:1, v/v; peat+perlite: rice hull+pumice: 1:2, coarse sand+peat: 2:1, soil; cocopeat) on some quality parameters Batı Akdeniz Agricultural Research Institute (BATEM), Antalya, Türkiye. Quality (stem length, stem diameter, weight, flowering time, number florest) were significantly (p < 0.01) affected by cultivars. Among media, earliest (77.8 days) longest length (128.0 cm) determined peat+perlite, whereas largest florets (15.0 spike-1) recorded peat+pumice. Regarding varieties, Purple Flora (84.7 flowered earlier than Ibadan (102.7 days), while displayed more superior terms other parameters.

Evaluation Of Different Herbicides In Gladiolus (Gladiolus Grandiflorus L.)
An experiment was carried out at Regional Research Station, Wadura, SKUASTKashmir during 2012-2013 to evaluate different herbicides in gladiolus. The experiment consisted of eight different herbicides, cultural practices as weed control treatment and unweeded control and were replicated thrice in randomised block design. Among four herbicides i.e atrazine, metribuzin, butachlor and pendimethali...
متن کاملEffect of Different Media on Some Growth, Flowering and Biochemical Parameters of Two Cultivars of Gladiolus (Gladiolus grandiflorus L.) under Soilless Conditions
This experiment was conducted to study the effect of cocopeat: perlite medium with three ratios (v/v) (1:1, 3:1 and 1:3) on some vegetative, flowering and biochemical parameters of two gladiolus cultivars (Strong and White) under soilless conditions in 2016. Data indicated that most vegetative parameters expressed as plant height, leaf number and leaf area, flowering parameter such as spike eme...

Gladiolus is cultivated as a high-value ornamental plant in the worldwide and it has the highest cultivation area and the highest level of underground organs imports in Iran. In this study, in order to investigate indirect regeneration of Amsterdam and Advance Red cultivars an experiment was conducted in a completely randomized design with three replications. For callogenesis, bud sprout (apica...
متن کاملEffect of Pulsing and Wet Cold Storage on the Quality and Vase Life of Cut Gladiolus (Gladiolus grandiflorus L.) ‘Fado’
Floriculture is among Kenya’s top foreign exchange earners. Gladiolus is one of the four famous cut flowers in the world whose popularity in Kenya is attributed to its heat tolerance, many spike forms and color combinations. However, the perishable nature of the flower renders it vulnerable to huge post-harvest losses. The study aimed to evaluate pulsing effect of cut Gladiolus</em...

Gladiolus (Gladiolus grandiflorus L.), a popular bulbous cut flower, has high demand in both domestic (Pakistani) as well as international markets. Five potential, exotic cultivars of gladiolus, ‘Cantate’, ‘Corveira’, ‘Eminence’, ‘Essential’ and ‘Fado’ were evaluated to determine the cultivar effects on yield and quality, to compare their relative performance and recommend their suitability for...
